Welcome to Harvesting Yesterday!

This blog is dedicated to vintage equipment, rural life styles and events along the way.
We will be talking tractors, trucks, hunting, and fishing and all things American and elsewhere.
Being from the Pacific Northwest and now living in the South I'm fixin' to go down the road a piece.
Feel free to come along for the ride where ever it may take us.

  1. Did you know of these provisions that BOTH houses of the Congress of the United States recently passed? The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a bill that gives the President the absolute power to arrest and detain citizens of the United States without their being informed of any criminal charges, without a trial on the merits of those charges, and without a scintilla of the due process safeguards protected by the Constitution of the United States.

Further, it unlawfully affords the President the absolute and unquestionable authority to deploy the Armed Forces of the United States to apprehend and to indefinitely detain those suspected of threatening the security of the “homeland.”

This last provision of the NDAA smacks of yet another abuse, namely that of “waging war against us” and the use of the military to “complete the works of death, desolation, and tyranny.”

These are a few of the scores of examples that could be provided of ways in which our government has ceased being the servant of the people and has instead become their cruel master.

    What are your thoughts?

  2. I would like to share an experience with you all about drinking and driving. As you well know, some of us have been known to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the odd social session over the years.

A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and some rather nice claret. Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before - I took a bus home. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have
never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got this one.

Seriously though - don't drink and drive. Be responsible and don't jeopardize others or yourself - Live to celebrate yet another year!
